You’ve signed up and now we’d like to put you to work. Our Fall Festival is just around the corner. It is being held on Friday October 2nd from 5-8 PM. First of all, we’d like you to join us for the next Fall Festival meeting on September 15th at 6:30 PM in the staff lounge at the school. We are looking for help with the following items:
-We are looking for lighting options. Do you know someone with access to heavy duty construction type lighting or generators that they’d be willing to allow us use of for the evening of our fall festival?
-Do you own an easy up canopy that we could use to cover booth areas?
-Do you have connections to a music group or DJ that would be willing to donate their time or perform for a very small fee?
-Do you have connections to a business owner who would be willing to donate their goods or services for use as a raffle item? They would be allowed to advertise their business in the raffle area. If you know someone who’d like to do this we’ve attached a donation letter that includes our tax ID number if needed.
-We are also looking for business owners who would like to display their goods at a booth. We do ask for a $50.00 booth rental fee or donation of $50.00 worth of product to be raffled off.
Please respond send an email to matherheightspta@yahoo.com with any help you can offer. We look forward to making this a very successful Fall Festival as we work to continue to provide educational opportunities for all of our children!

The reams of paper will be stacked by the cafeteria by grade level so that the children can see their progress.

Please Donate to the Fall Festival Country Kitchen
Attention Mather Heights parents! Do you make a dessert that always gets raves? Do you have extra produce from your garden? Or, do you have extra jams or jellies that you've canned over the summer? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, donate your prepared goodies or produce to our newest Fall Festival booth, The Mather Heights Country Kitchen! All proceeds go directly to our school, funding classroom supplies, field trips, and other activities. More details to come, so stay tuned!

IMPORTANT MESSAGE: 1 Case of Swine Flu Confirmed at Mather Heights
A message from MATHER HEIGHTS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
MATHER HEIGHTS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Message sent - 8/28/2009
H1N1
Dear Mather Heights Families,
This is your principal Mrs. Hamlin. Please read this important message about the H1N1 virus.
We learned late this afternoon that a member of our student body was diagnosed with the H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu.
While there may have been cases reported of the H1N1 virus from within our school community, we are consistently monitoring the condition of our students and taking all necessary steps to ensure student safety and a safe school environment. We are in regular contact with the Sacramento County Health Department, and we will keep you informed about any developments that affect the health of our students and staff. At this time they are not recommending any school closure and if your child is feeling well, they are encouraged to come to school.
We ask that parents monitor their children and report any students with flu-like symptoms to both the principal and your health care provider. Signs and symptoms of influenza include:
• Fever of 100 degrees or higher
• Chills
• Sore throat or trouble swallowing
• Coughing or sneezing
• Body aches, headache
• Fatigue
When we have a report of the flu at a site, we will take all reasonable steps to sanitize the desks and other surfaces that students are likely to touch. Students, staff and parents can best protect themselves by following the advice of health professionals. They have been reminding everyone to:
Wash their hands frequently and thoroughly
Cover their mouths with a tissue when coughing or sneezing
And to stay home if feeling ill
Thank you for listening to this message.
More information about the H1N1 Virus can be found at the district’s website at www.fcusd.org
